Shape the district's future with a seat at the table.
As one of 34 principals, you’re not only running a school, you’re also part of the district’s leadership team. Principals meet with the superintendent each month as a group, and welcome him to their schools every few weeks. With direct access to SCSD decision-makers and close relationships with peers at similar schools, principals have the support of a team that is all in, tackling system-wide change.
Make your mark on a school – and a community.
Turning around a struggling school means painting a new picture of what’s possible, for teachers, students and parents. The challenge facing our principals is to galvanize schools around dramatic leaps in student achievement. It’s a job for people energized by audacious goals, and by the rewards of mobilizing a community around high expectations for every child.
Train to be a transformative leader.
SCSD invests in its leaders, developing talented managers with deep instructional skills. Both current and future principals attend intensive monthly trainings, grounded in the district’s Leadership Framework. At these Leadership Academies, current principals dig into practical topics like curriculum and management, while aspiring principals engage with leadership concepts through superintendent forums and the support of a personal coach.
Earn recognition for rising to the challenge.
Principals are central to the district’s success, and SCSD offers highly competitive principal salaries that start at $106,613. Our most effective principals have also been able to earn stipends of as much as $17,500 for taking on additional leadership responsibilities, supporting the next group of administrators and expanding their impact while continuing to lead their schools.
